UK Solar farm built at Hanson's Ketton cement plant

A 9 MWp solar farm has been inaugurated at Hanson Cement's Ketton plant in Rutland, UK. The project, which was developed by Lark Energy and Armstrong Energy, will help Hanson Cement to reduce its CO2 emissions and energy costs. This is the first stage of the project; the second stage will see the solar farm's generation capacity increase by a further 3 MWp later this year. Built at a former Hanson Cement quarry site, the solar plant will provide enough energy to cover approximately 10% of the Ketton cement plant's annual consumption. The cement producer will receive a proportion of the energy for free and the rest will be provided at a market reflective rate.
