摘要

Monocytes/macrophages play a fundamental role in the recovery of the integrity of damaged tissues. Due to their phagocytic and antimicrobial activities, these cells take part in wound cleansing from microorgan isms and tissue cleavage products at the early “inflam matory” stage of wound healing. However, the main contribution of monocytes/macrophages into wound healing process is the production of cytokines and growth factors, that paracrine effect other cells induc ing fibroblast chemotaxis and proliferation, collagen synthesis by fibroblasts, endothelial cells migration, etc. Therefore, macrophages trigger further stages of wound healing: granulations and fibroplasia forming, and tissue remodeling [1, 2].
