Genetic modification of domestic animals for production of therapeutic proteins necessary for modem medicine is one of the most promising fields of trans-genesis. Dozens of pharmaceutical recombinant proteins have been obtained from animal milk; thereare a few reports on isolation of such proteins from eggs of transgenic chickens. Breeding of transgenic poultry includes a stage of obtaining pluripotent cells suitable for transgenesis. These may be embryonic stem cells (ESCs) obtained from blastodermal cells of the egg are primordial germ cells (PGCs), which can be isolated from the blood or gonads of chicken embryos.
