The widespread use and excellent performance of hexavalent chromium compounds for passivating zinc die castings is well-established. However, increasing environmental regulations in all industries and geographic markets has lead to the ongoing reduction in the use of chromium(VI) compounds, requiring the zinc die casting industry to adopt new chromium(VI)-free passivation treatments.
