摘要

An opportunity to adjust your brain is perhaps something that we or those around us might wish for at some stage during our lives. Beyond the field of medicine, including psychosurgery, this notion has, however, been largely held in fiction; stories, film, sci-fi and more recently the promises of new cognitive behavioural therapies, interventions so popular in the last decade. Therefore, it was with mix of both curiosity and caution that I read Paul J. Fitzgerald's Adjust Your Brain. Paul Fitzgerald is a respected and well-credentialed American scientist who appears to be an authority in his field. His work includes a significant clinical role beyond which he is active in a number of areas including generous engagement in a healthy broader debate contributing to the current theories of the mind as they apply to symptoms and behaviour of both those with mental illness and the normal population.
