The Universal Serial Bus (USB) is gaining favor as an alternative interface for data acquisition and measurement applications. USB is used already in computer peripherals such as printers, mice, and digital cameras as a quick and easy way to connect to a PC. USB connections simplify peripheral installation by eliminating the need to crack open the PC to install a plug-in board.
