As global commodity markets continue to recover, Victoria remains an important location for investment in resources

The Brumby Government is committed to driving investment in the Victorian earth resources sector through on-going partnerships and support of industry and research organisations. Partnering with Industry in January I announced 12 companies would share in 700,000 dollars in funding under the Brumby Government's 2.5 million dollars Rediscover Victoria initiative to assist them to explore for new geothermal and mineral resources. Grant recipients will search for a range of minerals, including gold, silver, copper and nickel, as well as geothermal resources, in sites across the state, from East Gippsland to northern and western Victoria.
