NOT THE SAME OLD DRILL: Ditch Witch adds horizontal directional drill to lineup

Ditch Witch has released a new horizontal directional drill designed for working in tight jobsite spaces. The JT9 is a self-contained horizontal directional drilling unit designed to install buried cable and pipe at distances to 300 ft., depending on soil conditions, and is intended for operation in ambient temperatures from 0° to 115℉. The new JT9 has the size to do residential and last-mile work as well as enough horsepower to do larger diameter work in confined spaces, said Seth Matthesen, senior product manager for Ditch Witch. Ditch Witch is offering the JT9 in two Deutz engine configurations. The Tier 4-compliant machine is powered by a 3.3 L Deutz TD2.9 diesel engine rated 66 hp at 2300 rpm. The four-cylinder engine has a bore and stroke of 99 x 115 mm. The Tier 4 interim machine, which is designed for less-regulated markets, is powered by a 3.1 L Deutz D2011L04i diesel engine rated 66 hp at 2300 rpm. The four-cylinder engine has a bore and stroke of 99 x 112 mm.
