NEW CATERPILLAR POWERTRAIN CONTROLLER - A5:M2 controller targeted at off-highway, on-highway electrohydraulic/transrnission control

Cat Electronics is introducing its first controller designed specifically for external applications. Due to debut at the ICUEE show this month, the new A5:M2 electronic control is designed for controlling engines, transmissions and/or electrohydraulic systems in a range of off-highway equipment, as well as selected on-road uses. Production units of the new controller are expected by mid-2006. External uses for the A5:M2 control are seen in applications ranging from waste & recycling trucks, fire & rescue vehicles, oil & gas equipment, agricultural equipment and implements, lift equipment and material handling, with some potential seen for rail installations. "What we heard from customers in the electrohydraulic, powertrain and driven equipment industries is they needed a robust control that was compact, easily configurable and had more options than what we traditionally offer," said Brian Uhlenhake, Cat Electronics sales development manager.
