New catalytic converter in OEM testing: QuadCat integrates diesel particulate filter with lean-NO{sub}x catalyst in recuperator core; 'proof of concept' testing completed

As the specter of increasingly stringent emissions standards begins to cast its shadow over the industrial engine markets, the development of new technologies to meet these standards is well underway, both in the engine and in the aftertreatment arenas. One new system currently being offered for post-combustion emissions control on both mobile and stationary diesel engines is a four-way catalytic converter called QuadCat. Prototype testing for the QuadCat system, which is being developed by Ceryx Inc. has been completed, and OEM development programs are underway, noted Dr. Dorriah L. Page, president and CEO of the two-year-old California, U.S.A., company.
