Schottel has introduced a new generation of rudder propellers (SRP) and twin propellers (STP) with a compact, modular and performance-optimized design. The new thrusters are meant especially for any kind of offshore operation, tugs and ferries. SRP and STP are available with a variety of reduction ratios to suit all common input speeds regardless of whether they are driven by a diesel engine or an electric motor. Schottel said that the thruster is even more compact than existing models and is practically a self-contained system requiring only a minimum of mechanical and electrical interfacing. The new thruster series offers a high commonality of parts throughout the different reduction ratios, the company said.
