Two-Stroke, Dual-Fuel Engine Passes Factory Acceptance Test: Engine will be used in LNG carrier in Chinese waters

The first Wartsila low-speed, two-stroke, dual-fuel engine destined for a commercial application has completed its factory acceptance test (FAT) at a Chinese licensee of Winterthur Gas & Diesel, the Switzerland-based designer, developer and licensor of Wartsila low-speed, two-stroke engines. Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD) said the 5RT-flex50DF dual-fuel engine is a five-cylinder, 50 cm bore engine built by Yuchai Marine Power Co. Ltd. (YCMP) at its factory in Doumen, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. The dual-fuel unit will power a new handy-size liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier - designed by Marie and under construction at the Chinese shipyard of Qidong Fengshun Ship Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. - for the fleet of Chinese shipowner and operator Zhejiang Huaxiang Shipping Co. Ltd.
