SABIC Commissions Jubail CO2-to-Methanol Plant

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) plans to begin operations at the world's largest carbon dioxide (CO2) utilization plant at its chemicals production complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia by the end of the year, according to an ICIS report. The new plant will compress around 1,500 tonnes of raw CO2 per day produced from its glycol plants, and pipe it to make additional urea and methanol. The unit is expected to ramp up towards the end of the year, around the same time a 500,000 tonne per year (TPY) ethylene glycol plant comes online.
