Poland's first delivery of LNG under a 20-year contract with Qatar was recently delivered to Swinoujscie LNG via the Al Nuaman LNG carrier, according to the Associated Press. Currently paying one of the highest gas import prices in Europe to Gazprom, this shipment is part of Poland's effort to rely less upon the Russian gas supplier. In addition to meeting its own gas demand, Poland intends to provide gas to adjacent countries through a yet-to-be-built pipeline network. Imported gas will be stored and processed at the Swinoujscie gas terminal, the largest facility in the region and one of the largest in Europe.
