Shell proceeds with FEED for Philippines import facility

Shell is proceeding with front-end engineering design (FEED) for a proposed LNG import facility in Batangas, Philippines, Platts reported. Shell signed a memorandum of understanding with the Philippines Department of Energy on the facility in 2012. Shell tlien conducted a feasibility study for that terminal. The company plans to use a floating storage and regas-ification unit (FSRU) to import LNG into the country. The 170,000-cubic meter FSRU will have an annual capacity of 4 million tonnes. The company will make a final investment decision on the project in the next 12 months. Shell officials have previously stated that commercial operations were targeted in 2016 or 2017.
