Panama Canal could see more than $500M annually in LNG tolls from NA exports

According to preliminary figures presented by Panama Canal Authority in February and published in Bloomberg News on Nov, 4, some $347,400 in canal tolls could be levied for a standard 150,000 cubic-meter carrier laden with cargo and $295,500 levied for an empty carrier. Thus, a shipper sending a cargo from the U.S. Gulf Coast to Japan would incur canal tolls of more than $640,000 for the round trip. Added to this would be a number of incidental charges that could push the cost to close to $1 million per voyage.
