Russia, Japan sign memorandum on Vladivostok LNG

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda have signed a cooperation agreement on the US$13 billion Vladivostok project, ABC News reported Sept. 9. The project "will have a great meaning for developing the eastern part of the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia as well as raising Russian gas supplies to Asia-Pacific markets including Japan," said Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller. The 10-million-tonne-per-year export facility will liquefy gas from the Chayanda field in East Siberia.
