Shell Advances Ukraine Shale Gas Prospects

Shell may become the first foreign company to be awarded an exploration and production (E&P) contract for Ukrainian shale gas, LNG World News reported three days following the Socoin's announcement (1. above). It has been involved in the Ukraine for some time.In 2007, a division, Shell Exploration & Production Ukraine Investments (I) B.V., signed an agreement with Regal Petroleum pic, to acquire a 51% interest in Regal licenses for the Mekhediviska-Golotvschinska and Svyrydivske gas fields in the Dniepr Donetsk sedimentary basin where most of Ukraine's conventional gas and condensate production is located.
