Excelerate plans Port Lavaca floating-LNG facility by 2017

Excelerate Energy announced May 15 that it will move forward with the development of a floating-LNG export facility offshore Texas. Excelerate has entered into discussions with potential off takers and natural-gas suppliers as well as investors and potential sources of finance to take the project forward. The Lavaca Bay LNG development will, depending on how the facility is configured, have a capacity of 3 — 4 million tonnes per year (mt/y). Excelerate expects to begin the export authorization and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission permitting process immediately.
