Chevron gas finds likely to underpin expansion at Gorgon LNG

Chevron plans to bring forward development of two big gas fields off Western Australia, The Australian reported. Gas from the fields is likely to underpin a US$10 billion plus expansion of the Gorgon LNG gas project being built on Barrow Island. The Gorgon project includes a US$43 billion terminal development and a US$29 billion upstream development called Wheatstone. The Wheatstone development includes the Gorgon and Janz-Io fields. Further development of the area was originally intended to support the project once those reserves became low. But discoveries such as the Geryon and Chandon fields, which are described as "high value" and "high deliverability" with low C02 content, have opened the possibility of a fourth train at the Gorgon project.
