Wartsila announced September 7 that it has been awarded a ?155 million (US$218 million) turnkey contract to supply a gas-fired power plant to the Dominican Repub-lic. The contract was signed with Barrick Gold of North America, Inc., a subsidiary of the Canada based Barrick Gold. Corporation. The power plant will serve the Pueblo Viejo gold mine.Wartsila will supply 12 dual fuel Wartsila 50DF engines, as well as a full engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the project.
