Editor's Synopsis: Investment Flows Into Asian Upstream Gas Development

In this months issue, we see multiple planned large-scale investments in upstream gas development in Asia. Developers in India, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia are planning the development of gas finds to offset declining production in mature fields, supply growing domestic demand or bolster exports. In India, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) announced plans to invest US$5-2 billion in the development of marginal oil and gas fields to make up for declining production. Up to 10 of these fields are expected to be on stream by 2013-14, with the first, GS-15, in the Krishna-Godavari basin, expected online mis month.
