Hot melts: an alternative to solvent-based adhesives

What does a Martha Stewart Christmas and a modern automobile have in common? Both use hot melt adhesives extensively. This should give a fairly good indication of the versatility of hot melt adhesives, as well as illustrate die growing market acceptance of this adhesive technology in displacing traditional solvent-based (i.e. contact cement) applications.
