Harvesting STSGs with manual devices is burdensome, and the quality of the graft is operator dependent. The surgeon must synchronize uniform pressure, the angle of approach, and a constant speed of advancement, all while performing a back-and-forth sawing motion. If this is not performed in concert, the graft will have uneven thickness, irregular or serrated edges, and possibly fenestrations. We describe a process that provides a more efficient, rapid, reproducible, effective, simpler alternative.
