Legal judgment could open up whole raft of challenges to testing

Back in early November 2007 my weekly bulletin led with a story entitled "New High Court Rock Show promoted by Aria". This confirmed that Aria had commenced legal proceedings for E2million damages from dairy farmers David Barnes and Peter Willes for allegedly breaking its milk contract. The basic facts are as follows: a not very happy David Barnes served notice to leave Aria in March. In June 2007 he learned he had. not been selected to be a Tesco supplier, despite other neighbouring farms being offered a Tesco contract. On June 18, Barnes took action, sold his dairy to Peter Willes, and became the farm's contractor. Willes - who was never under contract to Aria -immediately sold the milk to Meadow Foods from June 20, who then sold it back to Aria for close to 35p/litre. Aria was furious; informed its lawyers and issued a press release informing the world that war had been declared.
