The sad closure of the Whitland plant in Wales has sent cold shivers down the spines of many Welsh dairy farmers. Several are now convinced that the writing is on the wall for dairying and that the closure is another step along the same road that the Welsh coal industry took not so long ago. Itis easy to understand dairy farmers' concerns and the number from South Wales who have contacted our office in recent weeks is unprecedented. We await to see how many will decide that their future is too bleak and will drop out of the industry.
