The milk quota system has clocked up its 26th birthday and unless there is a spectacular u-turn it is set to reach its 30th birthday on April 1, 2015. Then, well, that will be it. So far as the UK is concerned, we have exceeded our wholesale quota in 15 out of the past 26years, and over that time producers have paid 258.5 eur m in super levy. The bookies favourite is for the UK to end up failing to fill its quota as many times as it has filled it during the 30-year span.
