Dairy Event looks at beef and calf options

A new section at this year's event will tackle an issue that affects all dairy farmers with a specialised calf and beef area on Avenue 4, between the two EDFE entrances. The fmy over live animal exports and the detrimental effect on calf prices earlier this year raised lots of questions for dairy farmers on the marketability of their bull calves and beef cattle. For these reasons, the organisers took the initiative to introduce a beef and calf area, "There was a lack of information available to farmers at the main agricultural shows, so we've planned a technical exhibition to plug this gap by bringing all the ideas together," says RABDF chief executive Philip Gilbert.
