The changing face of NMR

Next month National Milk Records will launch it's 'new look' reports following more than six months consultation with members and intensive development work. One important introduction is a Herd Performance Summary which will be the front page of all13,000 monthly reports. In this article Douglas Batchelor, NMR's business development executive, explains exactly what the Performance Summary tells farmers, and the benchmarks they should be setting for their herd. Designed to make easy reading of herdperformance, NMR's new summary is divided into the four important management sections: production, fertility, breeding and health. This helps members, their advisers and vets compare progress month on month or against other herds. Most people refer first to the herd's production so we've put this information in the top left hand corner of the summary (see table 1).
