Wholecrop makers could beat the summer drought

After its successful launch last year, Dairy Farmer is once again sponsoring the Maize Growers' Association National Wholecrop Competition. Here, DRC's John Bax previews this year's award. Despite the recent rain, much of the UK is suffering from drought stress to some degree.In many areas, the severe soil moisture deficit will result in a practical site class reduction of land with a resultant loss in total dry matter from silage ground. The lack of rain has also forced producers to graze into silage ground, compounding theproblem.
