摘要

While inorganic fluorides arepowerful hydrogen bond-acceptors,there is not much evidence thatcovalently bound organofluorinesform hydrogen bonds. Not muchsticks to organic C-F bonds, saysRebek, which is why they have beenso useful in products such as Teflon.So the group moved up the periodictable to look at the B-F bonds influoroborates. Fluoroborates arecovalently bonded but also anionic,which makes their hydrogen bonding properties interesting forresearchers.
