摘要

Welding on high-carbon steel is carried out in various engineering fields including train and tram tracks.The presented paper describes the technology of resurfacing of rails (0.65 percent C, 1.0 percent Mn, 0.4 percent Si) carried out by automatic submerged arc welding (SAW) without preheating using low-carbon wire (0.07 percent C, 1.1 percent Mn, 0.3 percent Si or 0.1 percent C, 1.1 percent Mn and 2.5 percent Ni) in combination with FLUX OK 10.71. During welding the carbon content increases in the weld metal and decreases in the HAZ of high-carbon steel.The relation of welding parameters (heat input Q [kJ.cm~(-1)] and electric current I [A]) to above-mentioned changes in carbon content, as well as crack formation is determined.
