摘要

Yukon officials are, closely following the exhaustive regulatory processes of two proposed multi-billion dollar pipelines from Alaska and the Mackenzie Valley, key infrastructure that would help get potential natural gas resources in the territory to lucrative southern markets. The territory has an estimated onshore potential of 17 tcf of natural gas and 800 million bbls of oil and an offshore potential of 40 tcf of gas and 4.5 billion bbls of oil. Despite the estimated resource prize, investment spending has been modest, mostly because resources don't have an outlet to more densely populated areas in southern Canada and Lower 48.
