The energy industry needs to look at long-term (100-year) planning horizons if it is to meet the growing global energy demand and address climate change concerns, the head of Imperial Oil Limited said Thursday.Companies and governments will need to pursue policies that allow energy to be developed from all available sources, not simply oil and natural gas, Bruce March, president, chief executive officer and chairman, told a Calgary Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Those will include the increased use of alternative energy sources such as wind and solar power along with nuclear, hydro-electric and geothermal power, he said.
