My herd name is Oznay-im. I have raised Nubian dairy goats for 18years in the high desert country of Payette, Idaho. I have tried to raise goats that operate efficiently, productively, and without problems on a diet predominantly of hay and pasture. Early on I figured out that anyone who referred to trashy hay as goathay did not know much about goats. Goats are both picky and wasteful. If a person tosses hay on the ground, the goats will pick at what they like and contaminate the rest and not eat it. In a way, this is a good thing because of the fecal oral path of parasite infection. But it is tough to see 30 to 50 percent of the hay wasted while on the end of a manure fork cleaning it up.
