When Chris and Pennie Halpin married 14 years ago and planned their future on a Michigan farm, all Pennie wanted was a dairy goat to call her own. New husband Chris happily obliged and, while the goat Pennie called Peggy Sue now is a fond memory commemorated on their cheese labels, she paved the way to a highly successful operation with sales spreading throughout the state. Chris was born and raised in the area, on a dairy farm about 50 miles from his present location. Pennie was from outside Traverse City, where her parents ran a dairy farm.
