Dairy Forum March 2003: effects on cow health of milking machines and nutrition

This year's Dairy Forum was arranged to take advantage of two prestigious visitors to Zimbabwe - Prof Arie Brand and Dr Inge-Marie Petzer. Prof Brand is a professor of veterinary medicine from Holland; the Netherlands Management Co-operation Programme (NMCP) sponsored his visit. He has visited Zimbabwe several times in the past, and is well known and respected by our dairy farmers. Dr Petzer is also a veterinarian, from Ondesterpoort University, Pretoria. She specialises in milking machine testing and milk hygiene. Dr Petzer's visit was partly sponsored by dairy farmer Ian Webster, from Mazowe, and Morne Erasmus of Alltech South Africa, in his personal capacity. As Dr Petzer was able to take only three days out of her schedule to visit us, the Forum was held at only three venues: Bulawayo Show Grounds Members' Pavilion, Gweru CFU Offices, and the Agriculture House dining room, Harare.
