TC5's initial focus in the late 60's, addressed technological changes in manufacturing with the introduction of numerical control in the 1950's. This computer aided technology has since surged to prominence in the 1980's and 1990's with related technologies in Manufacturing Automation, Computer Aided Engineering and Management Information System. These occurrences have been the driver for the formation of TC5 Working Groups clustered under the above mentioned categories.
