Royal Cosun reports EUR53mn operating profit

The consolidated net turnover of Royal Cosun, the Dutch ingredient and sugar producer, for 2005 increased slightly to EURl,339mn (2004: EURl,317mn), chiefly on account of the full consolidation of Nedalco for the first time. The operating result was considerably higher, jumping EUR78mn from an operating loss of EUR 25mn in 2004 to an operating profit of EUR53mn in 2005. The operating profit should be considered, however, after adjustment for net incidental items of EUR 69 mn negative in 2004 and EUR4mn negative in 2005. Greater competition in the sugar market and narrower margins in the frozen potato product market were clearly perceptible.
