摘要

Gene-therapy strategies are stirring new hopes as worthy therapeutic candidates in the battle against AIDS. Last year alone presented major breakthroughs, which may mean genetic engineering no longer being on the far edges of AIDS research. The detection of HIV strains seems to have greatly improved after researchers from the University of Pennsylvania (PA, USA) exposed randomly mutated T-cell receptor proteins in isolation to HIV antigens. This new form of therapy involves manufacturing ones own immune system to oppose the virus with increased vigor thus hindering its spread.
