2009 EACS guidelines published

The European AIDS clinical Society (EACS) has issued new guidelines on the management of HIV infection, which address a further 14 comorbidities and co-infections and focus on diseases associated with age. The guidelines were presented by Nathan Clumeck, Brussels University, Belgium, at the 12th European AIDS Conference in Cologne, Germany, and updates the last issue in 2007. The new sections include guidelines on cancer screening, cardiovascular disease preventions, blood pressure, diabetes, bone mineral loss, hyperlactatemia, renal toxic-ity, lipodystrophy, TB co-infection and a section on delta hepatitis infection appears for the first time.
