The purpose of this study is to investigate the impacts of Stockosorb polymer (SP) on the flow advance time and infiltration parameters in the short furrow irrigation systems. The experiment was carried out within a factorial randomized block design using four levels of SP added as the main plot treatments and two inflow rates as sub-plot treatments with three replications. Treatments included 0.0, 5.0, 7.0, and 9.0 g of the polymer added per square meter at a soil depth of 25 cm and inflow rates were 0.50 and 0.70 l s-1. The experiments were performed during four irrigation events. The results from analysis of Stockosorb polymer effect on the infiltration rate and flow advance time revealed that replications did not lead to any significant differences and that all factors include: inflow rate in the furrows, amount of applied polymer, and the interaction of inflow rate and amount of applied polymer were significant at 1% probability level. The treatment with 9 g m-2 with a furrow length of 90 m and an inflow rate of 0.50 l s-1 showed a considerable increase in infiltration rate. The findings demonstrate an increasing of 37% and 67% in the amounts of stream advance time and infiltration rate, respectively, for the treated furrows with the greatest SP added. Hence, in the treated furrows, irrigation management practices may be different from those for the untreated furrows.
