摘要

Prediction of mercaptan removal from natural gas streams with liquid solvents presents significant challenges. The process involves describing the complex chemical and physical interactions between multiple components in the liquid phase, as well as reaction kinetics and mass transfer. Using an extensive experimental data collection campaign and recently improved thermodynamic models, an innovative solution has overcome these challenges and developed a rate-based model to accurately predict mercaptan removal performance. This technical article describes the essentials of this model and concludes with a comparison to commercial-scale operating data.
