Building on the foundation work of the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (AP6), the Australian Government is composing a series of publications highlighting leading practice and sustainable development in mining. Australian Resources Minister, Ian Macfarlane, has launched the Leading Practice Sustainable Development Program for the Mining Industry, an overview of the 14 booklets being developed around topics ranging from mine rehabilitation and water management to community engagement." The goal is to provide the mining sector, their employees, NGOs, regulators and the broader community with the information and case studies to help them move beyond what is down in regulation for mining activities, " Mr Macfarlane said.
