Quantitative reliability analysis is finding increasing use in the petrochemical industry.Statistical software that helps develop failure distributions from historical maintenance data, and sophisticated simulations and modeling packages that facilitate reliability availability and maintainability(RAM)stuthes of complex systems, have encouraged use of advanced reliability techniques for many purposes. However, these are underutilized in developing asset management strategies for critical equipment in the petrochemical and oil and gas industries. The potential rewards of this approach to establish optimized equipment strategies can result in savings in maintenance costs, increased up-time and'longer run intervals.
