The effects of indoor light and temperature on postproduction quality of potted flowering plant of Begonia X hiemalis 'Barkos' were investgated in environment-controlled growth chambers. For experiment, nine treatments were given by the combinationof three indoor light and three temperature levels, in which light intensities were 0, 10, and 55 mu mol centre dot m~(-2) centre dot s~(-1) with cool white fluorescent lamps and temperature was set at 16/16 deg C (day ight), 22/22 deg C, and 22/16 degC. According to the results, flower diameter, and number of flowers and buds increased and additionally petal color tended to be deeper and clearer as the light intensity and temperature increased up to 55 mu mol centre dot m~(-2) centre dot s~(-1) and22 deg C, respectively. Under this condition. the good quality of Begonia was extended over 6 weeks. However, hue angle value and chlorophyll contents of the leaf were much better under the low light intensity than under the high light intensity. Moreover, under low light intensity in the room, high temperature was more effective in maintaining the high quality of potted Begonia than under low temperature condition, in which the display quality of Begonia was continued to more than 4 weeks.
