Effect of heat storage water bag heating by electric heating cable on growth and fruit quality of peaches

The effects of heating (a heat storage water bag by using electric heating cable) on tree growth, fruit quality and yield of peach cultivars Baekmijosaeng and Kurakatawase. An economic analyses for forcing culture system was also conducted. Althoughthe minimum air temperature in greenhouse heated by electric cable embedded in water-filled heat storage bags was 1.1degC lower than heating by warm water circulation in water-filled heat storage bags, it was 12.0degC higher than the field control. Minimumsoil temperature in the greenhouse heated either by embedded heating cable or by warm water circulation in water-filled heat storage bags was almost similar, but it was 13.0degC higher than the field control. Fruit maturation period of Baekmijosaeng and Kurakatawase in greenhouse heated by warm water circulation in water-filled heat storage bags was 5 and 6 days earlier, respectively, than heating by cable embedded in water-filled heat storage bags, but were 39 and 31 days earlier than the field control,respectively. Fruit quality was slightly improved in heating treatment compared with the field control. Tree vigour was not significantly affected by the heating treatments, while shoot diameter increased and shoot length decreased. The income index forheating by embedded heating cable was 437 compared with the field control and by warm water circulation (466).
