Show aims to build on past success: This year's National Fruit Show is set to feature a diverse range of exhibitors. Brian Lovelidge reports

The 64th National Fruit Show, organised by the Marden Fruit Show Society (MFSS), is all set to repeat or even improve on last year's event, which was arguably the best in its history. Although it will be cateringforan even greater diversity of interests and tastes, its centrepiece is still the display of apple and pear competition entries. Despite the most numerous and damaging summer hail storms for many years, the high quality and skin finish of crops missed by the storms should enable growers to find the perfect fruit required for showing and possibly surpass last year's 145 entries from 45 entrants.
