Wild Forest Foods is a small fish in a big pond. Setting up shop two years ago to supply London restaurants and businesses with fresh local produce, owner Chris Herald can harvest his vegetables in the morning and deliver to his customers the same day. What started as a hobby is now Herald's main business focus and he hopes to grow the business in the coming years. After joining the army at a young age, Herald says he had trouble adjusting to civvy street when he returned at 21, holding a string of jobs. Growing was his constant hobby and it wasn't until he turned 50 that he sought to turn that hobby into a going concern. He has cornered a section on the London restaurant scene by growing unusual varieties and selling them on the back of high demandfor local, sustainable produce. All of his trade is in the capital within 32km of his 0.2ha plotin Barnet.
