The HTA is to produce a guide (see p3) on how nurseries can market themselves to the media, With the industry going through a downturn and the garden media in the doldrums, there has never been a better time for a concerted effort to give horticulturethe publicity it needs to halt the decline. Horticulture is going through a marketing crisis as companies cut office staff to save money. This means they lack people to do the "blue sky thinking" - the marketing of their products, said Palmstead Nurseries sales and marketing manager Nick Coslett.
